Welcome to Our Newest Intern

Maddy From little Tasmania to culturally diverse Geneva it’s been a big couple of months for me but I am excited to have made it to the ERI offices and to be starting my three month internship here.

I’m a student at the University of Tasmania: three years into a combined Bachelor of Arts (International Relations) and Bachelor of Laws. I have been involved with the Edmund Rice Network for six years now, beginning with my first Edmund Rice Camp in 2007. I’ve had a range of experiences with the Network across Australia and also in East Africa but this internship is very different from anything I have done before.

It is my ambition to work in Human Rights Law once I finish my degree so this internship is the perfect opportunity to immerse myself in the United Nations Human Rights Council and Universal Periodic Reviews. Already I have been in contact with a number of Permanent Missions, arranging meetings over the coming weeks to discuss human rights abuses in Nigeria.

I look forward to the next three months: to challenges, to contributing to the work of ERI, and to making a small difference in the world.

You can follow my experience on my blog.
