Sustainable Development Goals

At the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September 2015, world leaders adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which includes a set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, fight inequality and injustice, and tackle climate change by 2030.

Leading on from the Millennium Development Goals (http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (http://www.un.org/sustainabledevelopment/development-agenda/) the following 17 SDGs were drawn up under leadership of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

Within these 17 goals there are 169 targets (summarised below). A time frame has been set to achieve these goals by 2030.
