Kolkata Declaration

We, the members of the Edmund Rice Network, from around the world, assembled in Kolkata, India, make the following declaration:

We came to the “Flare up like Flame” Symposium with a passion for justice in the spirit of Blessed Edmund Rice. During our time together we listened to each other’s stories and dreams, shared our visions and hopes and walked in solidarity with people who do not share equally in our world’s resources.

We, therefore, commit to continue the conversations, broaden the vision, expand the activities of our network and engage in passionate advocacy for the most vulnerable in society in order to bring into full flame our shared desire for a world of understanding, compassion and love of God’s creation.
